231. Cycle: Homebush to Brighton le Sands

I was outside of my comfort zone when Birgit mentioned that she had stumbled on a bike path with her family a few days earlier and suggested we have a shot at it. The reason I was unnerved was that she and her kids only went about one km down the track and turned back so we had no idea of the route. We had been told that the cycle path went all the way from the Homebush Ikea to Brighton le Sands (26km away) but I was unsure if it would be as easy as just following the road. Fortunately for myself, Brigit and Tom it was that simple and with the exception of some minor road works and a couple of wrong turns we made it unscathed to Brighton le Sands where we stopped for some well deserved lunch and drinks (non alcoholic of course). We then pointed our bikes into the wind (which seemed to have been in front of us all day) and made our way all the way back to the Ikea car park. A great ride and enjoyed by all of us (that is all of us once Tom realised how to get his gears working properly and pumped up his tyres!!).
